Marquis was raised in Oklahoma. Destined to go to the University of Oklahoma, she graduated there with a bachelor’s of arts in psychology in 2007. She continued her education with the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center with a bachelor’s of science in nursing in 2008 and a masters in nursing in 2012. While working on her master’s degree she worked at Oklahoma Heart Hospital as a registered nurse in the progressive coronary care unit.
Since graduation from her master’s program she has been working in the primary and urgent care setting providing quality care to patients across the lifespan. Marquis joins WeightWise Bariatric Program in June of 2016. She is very excited to be a part of the WeightWise team and looks forward to being directly involved in patient care as they continue their remarkable journey towards a healthier lifestyle.
In her spare time Marquis enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing tennis, and spending time with her two dogs.
Melisa received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma in 1999. Following graduation from OU until 2002 she was attending the University of Tulsa in the Legal Nurse Consulting program and an emergency room staff and charge nurse at St. John Medical Center. From 2002 to 2005 Melisa, was working to obtain her Masters Degree in Nursing with a specialty in family practice at the Medical College of Georgia. Simultaneously she was working as an ER nurse at a Level I Trauma Center.
In 2005, Melisa moved back to Oklahoma and joined an Internal Medicine Practice with Tulsa Health Group. She started a Coumadin clinic, continuity practice, acute care practice and began work as a Hospitalist for SouthCrest Medical Center. In 2006, she joined New Beginnings Medical Weight Loss. There she started and administered a medical managed weight loss practice while also providing primary care for bariatric patients. Melisa joined the WeightWise Bariatric Program in March of 2013.
Dr. Walton attended Oklahoma State University and studied chemical engineering with a pre-med option. During the summer after his junior year of college, he suffered a devastating injury from an oil field explosion. The explosion resulted in severe burns over 75 percent of his body, requiring 20 operations, two months of hospitalization initially, and one year of intensive physical therapy. Despite a three percent chance of survival, he returned to college in one year and started medical school two years after the explosion.
The experience shaped Dr. Walton’s future commitment to help other patients through their medical difficulties. In 1989, Dr. Walton earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
Carley graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. Following graduation, Carley worked in multiple nursing fields at OU Medical Center and the Oklahoma Heart Hospital, including the ICU, CCU, and the pre/post-operative area. Carley obtained her master’s degree in nursing with a specialty in family practice from the University of Oklahoma in 2019.
Carley joined the WeightWise team in July of 2019. She is very excited to be part of the team and looks forward to helping patients live their best life. Carley loves getting to know her patients and helping them to reach their health goals while supporting them through the ups and downs that we all experience in our efforts of healthy living.
In her spare time Carley enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, playing in the pool, and going to the lake.
